A Newcastle nurse has been suspended for nine months over an incident following a night out where he gave a "vulnerable and intoxicated" friend a "syringe full of unprescribed saline". Not long afterwards, that friend suffered a seizure.
While a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) hearing found it could not be proved that James Joshua Hartley had failed to assist the other man - known as Person A - a panel did find that he had "no good reason" to supply the syringe.
Mr Hartley, who was employed by the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust at the time and is now working as part of an unnamed North East council's re-ablement team, has been suspended for the nursing register for nine months. The hearing heard how Perso
