LETCHER COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A status hearing is scheduled next Thursday for former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn “Mickey” Stines, who is accused of shooting and killing District Judge Kevin Mullins.
According to court documents, the hearing at 1:30 p.m. in Letcher County Circuit Court will allow the judge to determine whether a separate hearing is needed regarding pending motions. Another court filing indicates the Commonwealth’s Attorney has shared new information in the case with Stines. At the conclusion of the proceedings, Stines will return to the Leslie County Detention Center.
