HENRICO Va. (WWBT) - A bus driver is facing two charges after a fatal crash that killed a bicyclist on Oct. 22.

Hope CHamel Macklin, 48, is charged with careless driving and infliction of injury or dewath on a vulnerable road user, and any driver of any motor vehicle overtaking a bicycle proceeding in the same direction shall pass at a reasonable speed at least three feet to the left of the overtaken bicycle.

Police identified the victim as Gerald Joseph Kopecky, 73, of Henrico.

The investigation says Kopecky was riding his bicycle on the eastbound lanes of W. Broad Street between Glenside Drive and Forest Avenue when he collided with a GRTC bus.
