Michael Calahan has resigned as football coach at Aliso Niguel after six seasons.

Calahan announced his decision to the team’s players Friday.

He graduated from Aliso Niguel in 2005 and played football there.

Calahan said in a statement that he has resigned so that he can commit more time to his family that includes two children.

Aliso Niguel this season finished 8-4 overall and was third in the Foxtrot League with a 3-2 league record.

The Wolverines beat Millikan 7-6 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs before a 10-7 loss to La Serna in the quarterfinals.
