PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly meeting Friday, inviting Republican Senator Philip Wheeler to speak to its members.

Wheeler provided a legislative update to the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Friday, discussing priorities for the upcoming legislative session.

Wheeler, joined by Collin Jones from Commonwealth Alliances , spoke to attendees about the budget session and expected debates over the state’s income tax reduction plan. The senator said he expects the session to include a debate over whether the state will continue its mission to lower the income tax, which is set to decrease from 4% to 3.5% in January.
