Plans for a huge new housing development on the outskirts of Sunderland are due to go before city councillors for decision next week.
Sunderland City Council's Planning and Highways Committee will rule on an application for agricultural land south of the Philadelphia Complex and east of Philadelphia Lane in the city's Copt Hill ward.
The undeveloped plot, positioned between Philadelphia, Newbottle and New Herrington, has been earmarked as a ' housing growth' location within the council's Core Strategy and Development Plan.
In 2023, developer Vestbrown Limited submitted an outline planning application seeking approval in principle for up to 215 dwellings on the land, along with "associated access arrangements."
