OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The deadline for Nebraska state senators to sign up for a tour of the new ICE detention center in McCook passed Friday at 5 p.m.

The official visit is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. and was offered to all senators who completed the proper paperwork beforehand. About five to six senators had completed the form to attend as of Friday afternoon, according to Sen. Myron Dorn, one of the main organizers.

The tour comes after Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh was turned away from the facility multiple times, most recently last Monday.

Senators split on tour restrictions

Sen. Ashlei Spivey said she will not attend the tour, questioning the restrictions placed on lawmakers’ access to the facility.
