Premier David Eby isn’t ruling out an early election this spring.

In a year-end interview with Postmedia, Eby said he had been serious in October when he threatened to go to the polls if a bill designed to expedite a power transmission line for mining and LNG projects in the northwest of the province was voted down in the legislature.

Ultimately, the legislation passed with the help of Speaker Raj Chouhan, and the North Coast Transmission Line is expected to be completed by 2034.

The speculation about whether or not Eby will call an early election hasn’t gone away, however.

In an earlier interview Friday with Black Press Media, Eby reportedly said “no” when asked if he had any plans to call an early election.
