COLUMBUS, Ohio — As he prepares to enter his final year in office, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine sat down with 3News' Annabelle Childers on Friday to discuss a wide range of topics.
The 78-year-old DeWine is term limited and cannot seek reelection next November. With no campaign to worry about, the governor says he wants to keep focusing on the state's economy and education system as the calendar turns to 2026.
"We're going to continue to bring jobs to Ohio. We're on a role," DeWine said. In 2025, Ohio's labor force reached its highest level since the Great Recession , though the unemployment rate has risen from 3.4% in June 2023 to 4.8% as of this past August (still considered "full employment" by most experts' standards).
