Most of Waterbury is without water service after a high-pressure water main failed overnight.
Crews have been working to fix a water main break that happened on Thomaston Avenue on Wednesday . While they were working, the 36-inch transmission main failed, according to the mayor's office.

The failure has cut water service to resident and businesses in the majority of Waterbury, the mayor's office said.
Parts of Watertown and Wolcott are also affected.
The city is still trying to determine the entire impacted area. The affected area is expected to include low lying neighborhoods along the Naugatuck River as far east as Hamilton Park, including much of the downtown area, the mayor's office said.
