Part of Route 128 south is closed in Danvers due to a crash, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said late Friday.

The southbound side of the highway is closed at exit 43 and expected to remain closed for several hours, MassDOT said. Drivers should avoid the area if possible.

Footage from the scene showed two cars with significant front-end damage.

More details on the crash were not immediately available.
