HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Oahu’s traffic fatality count for this year rose to 81 after two people died from injuries related to past crashes.
First, the Honolulu Police Department says a 50-year-old motorcyclist, who was in a collision with a pedestrian in the early morning hours of July 15, died from his injuries on Thursday, Dec. 11.
Investigators say he was speeding on Waipahu Street in Pearl City when he hit an 18-year-old who was not in a marked crosswalk.
The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The pedestrian was taken a hospital with serious injuries.
Separately, HPD says a 19-year-old who was hit while riding his electric motorcycle in Waipahu last month has also died .
