A game-winning layup at the buzzer by Aiden Diehl on Friday lifted Cumberland Valley over Chambersburg, as the Eagles escaped with the 47-45 win over the Trojans.
Diehl finished the contest with eight points and one three-pointer. Elijah Welsh led the Eagles with 12 points.
The Trojans’ Colton Cornwell led the game with 15 points, while Landon Buhrman added 10 points for Chambersburg.
The game was closely contested at halftime, with Cumberland Valley holding a slight 20-18 edge. Chambersburg outscored Cumberland Valley 23-15 in the second half but could not put the Eagles away.
Welsh sank five crucial free throws in the fourth quarter to keep Cumberland Valley in range for the game winning layup.
