A man accused of murdering a County Durham dad in an Australian car park will stand trial in April next year.
David Summers-Smith is charged with the murder of Royce Mallett, from Haswell, County Durham.
Emergency services were called to a car park on Wodonga Place in South Albury, New South Wales at about 6.15pm on July 8, 2024, and found Mr Mallett with a stab wound to his chest.
The dad-of-two, 30, was taken to Albury Base Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. Royce had moved to Australia a month earlier to provide for his partner Caitlin and two children, Rose and Roman , and was meant to return to the UK within weeks.
Summers-Smith denied a single charge of murder when he appeared before the local court in Albury last month , but was before the Supreme Court
