The Bureau of Land Management is continuing to escalate its efforts to lease acreage in Colorado for oil and gas development, with a proposal to offer 160,628 acres, mostly in northwest Colorado, in a lease sale in June.

Its announcement comes as it recently generated nearly $4.9 million in revenue in a Colorado lease sale Tuesday, but also saw a considerable amount of the acreage offered go unsold.

The proposed June sale would include about 112,500 acres in Moffat County. Also proposed in the region for leasing are more than 27,000 acres in Rio Blanco County, more than 10,000 acres in Garfield County, and 3,566.5 acres in Mesa County.
