Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that the investigation into Congress leader and Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife’s alleged links with Pakistan will be handed over to a central agency, citing the complexity and sensitivity of the case.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma said the scope of the probe goes beyond the capacity of the state’s Special Investigation Team (SIT).
“In a case where so much complexity is involved, it will not be possible for the Assam SIT alone to investigate and unearth all aspects. The matter will therefore be handed over to a central agency for further investigation,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that once the Zubeen Garg case moves into the regular trial stage, the state government will share certain documents related to the Gogoi
