AUBURN, Wash. — A semi-truck driver from California could face a vehicular homicide charge after a deadly crash on state Route 167 on Thursday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a 29-year-old man was killed when he was rear-ended by a semi-truck driver, which pushed his car underneath another truck along the highway on Dec. 11.

The victim was identified as Robert B. Pearson of Bonney Lake. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said Pearson was driving northbound in a blue Mazda when he braked for slowing traffic near Auburn.

A 25-year-old semi-truck driver in a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer behind him failed to slow down and struck the Mazda from behind, according to WSP. Pearson's car was then pushed underneath a 2016 Peterbilt truck in front of him.
