BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Investigators are working to determine who set fire to a vacant home in Baton Rouge early Saturday morning, December 13.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, firefighters responded to the home on E. Smiley Street just before 5 a.m.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters contained the fire and kept it from spreading to nearby structures.

While no injuries were reported, the home where the fire happened is considered a total loss. A nearby house also had some damage due to heat from the flames.

The fire is being investigated as a case of arson.
