WILBRAHAM – It was a tooth and nail fight between the Westfield and Minnechaug Regional high school girls basketball teams in the third quarter of a season opener Friday night on the Falcons’ home court. It’s what happened over the course of the other three quarters that determined the fate of the Bombers though.

Minnechaug overwhelmed Westfield, outscoring the Bombers 36-2 in the first half en route to a 60-17 outcome on Friday evening.

Westfield attempted to put together a third quarter rally with an eight-point outburst, but the deficit was too much for the Bombers to overcome. The Bombers held Minnechaug to just 10 points over the quarter’s entire eight-minute span.
