Halifax has an appetite for women’s hockey.
Allie Munroe agrees with that sentiment. The 28-year-old from Yarmouth patrols the blue-line of the PWHL’s Toronto Sceptres, who will play a neutral-site game Wednesday night against the rival Montreal Victoire at Scotiabank Centre. The game sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale last month. A second neutral-site game between the Ottawa Charge and Boston Fleet will be played Jan. 11 at the downtown arena.
Halifax is one of only two Canadian cities (Edmonton is the other) to stage two Professional Women’s Hockey League games this season. The city also holds the distinction of a non-NHL market that will host a PWHL game, joining larger cities in Quebec City and Hamilton.
