FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - One person was injured following a single-vehicle crash on Fort Wayne’s east side Saturday.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), officers were called to the intersection of Lake Avenue and Reed Road around 8:45 a.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they say they found a utility pole that had been struck, a vehicle with significant damage, and a man nearby who had been ejected.
The man was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the man was driving eastbound on Lake Avenue when he passed stopped vehicles in a center turn lane, drove past the Reed Road intersection, rapidly accelerated, and lost control of his vehicle.
