FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The City of Fort Wayne is honoring a late pastor.
Reverend Ernest K. Starks was honored with a Memorial Parkway on Saturday.
A dedication ceremony was held at Greater Mount Ararat Church, where he served for 42 years, in celebration.
Congregation members were joined by Mayor Sharon Tucker, who signed a proclamation. Councilwoman Rohli Booker and other community leaders were also in attendance.
“He was a very humble man, he didn’t want the spotlight or anything, but I know he would’ve been really happy with, you know, knowing that a street would be named after him,” Booker said. “So I’m just overjoyed. I’m humbled in his honor, and I think it was a really good day.”
