Chileans on Sunday are set to elect their next president in a high-stakes runoff between an arch-conservative and a communist.
As you can see around me, preparations are underway.
In these booths, Chileans will have to choose between Jeannette Jara, a communist candidate who represents the center-left governing coalition, and Jose Antonio Kast, an arch-conservative, former lawmaker who sounds a lot like US President Donald Trump in his vows to deport hundreds of thousands of immigrants who are here illegally, as well as launch a harsh crackdown on a recent rise in organized crime.
As Minister of Labor in the government, Jara was behind some of the most popular welfare measures.
But she faces really tough odds, not only because anti-incumbent sentiment is so high, but also because the fear over immigration and crime is what's dominating this election.
And as we've seen elsewhere in the world, it often favors the far right.
