I ndiGo has been fined nearly INR59 crore by the tax authorities in connection with Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues for the financial year 2020–21. The airline has said it will contest the order, stating that the demand is incorrect and that it has a strong case.

According to a regulatory filing, the Additional Commissioner of Central GST, Delhi South Commissionerate, has imposed a penalty of INR 58,74,99,439 on the airline. The tax department has raised both a GST demand and a penalty for the same period.
