SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A house fire on Riviera Court in Springfield early on Dec. 13 resulted in one fatality, according to Eugene Springfield Fire officials.

ESF officials said that fire crews responded just before 4 a.m. to a reported fire at a home in the 2800 block of Riviera Court in Springfield. Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in the garage. Despite challenging conditions, firefighters from Engines 5 and 4 quickly located and removed a victim from the scene, fire officials said.

Authorities said that the victim was transported to Riverbend but unfortunately passed away shortly after arrival. The fire was contained to the garage, preventing further damage to the home.
