LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Louisville fire crews battled a fire at a Church community center for nearly three hours Saturday morning.
Officials said they received reports of smoke in the 1300 block of Catalpa Street around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday.
When crews arrived on scene, they found the top floor of a church community center was on fire.
The fire was upgraded to a 2-alarm fire, which requires additional assistance that was initially called to the scene, and crews began a defensive approach against the fire.
49 firefighters worked to contain the fire to the original building and keep it from spreading to the nearby church. The fire was contained at approximately 5 a.m.
No injuries or deaths were reported, and the community center was vacant at the time of the fire.
