Following a week off after the first loss of the season, Michigan State survived a sloppy performance in its road debut.
Divine Ugochukwu scored a career-high 23 points in his first start of the year to lift the No. 9 Spartans (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) to a 76-72 win at Penn State (8-3, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon.
Michigan State, which led by 10 in the second half, overcame a season-high 17 turnovers by closing on a 12-5 run over the final five minutes. Ugochukwu hit all five of his 3-point attempts and Jaxon Kohler posted his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Spartans. Carson Cooper scored 10 while Jeremy Fears had eight points and nine assists.
