LOS ANGELES -- The Detroit Lions will have to wait at least another week to get their starting left guard back. And they’ll have even more holes to fill in the secondary by ruling out the third safety of the week.

Detroit downgraded offensive guard Christian Mahogany (fibula) and safety Thomas Harper (concussion protocol) to out.

Mahogany just returned to practice earlier this week. He was a long shot to make his return to action so quickly. The second-year guard has been out since suffering a broken bone in his leg in the first game after the bye week, more than a month ago.

The Lions have started Kayode Awosika in Mahogany’s place for most of that stretch. They rolled with the combination of Trystan Colon and rookie Miles Frazier at left guard last week against the Dallas Cowboys.
