The 42nd YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County Reindeer Ramble 5K took place on Sunday, December 7. Dick Vincent launched the race in 1983 from his Catskill, NY, running shop, moving it to Kingston in 1984. The YMCA took over in 1993 and has organized this festive event annually since then. Proceeds benefit the YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign, supporting assistance and scholarships for local youth programs.
This year, Vincent attended to watch the runners he coaches. He was gratified to see the race thriving and enjoyed its fun, welcoming atmosphere. The race recorded 283 registrants and 236 finishers, a new participation record.
Naisha Scott of the YMCA served as race director and skillfully handled check-in, course management, timing, refreshments
