NEW YORK, N.Y. — Junior Hazel Lewis led Kingston High’s indoor track and field team in its season opener by winning the girls’ 1000-meter run in the Coach Saint Invitational at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory on Friday, Dec. 12.
Lewis achieved the state standard in the event with a winning time of three minutes, 1.84 seconds. By achieving the state standard, Lewis can finish in the top three at the state qualifying meet in February to qualify for the state championship meet in March.
“I felt excited about this race and the indoor season in general,” Lewis said.
