Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko released 123 prisoners, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Ales Bialiatski and leading opposition figure Maria Kalesnikava, in a deal brokered by the Trump administration. In return, the US is lifting sanctions on Belarusian potash – a key component in fertilisers, which the former Soviet state is a leading global producer.
