WASHINGTON — Two workers at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute were injured while trying to weigh a 12-year-old binturong on Friday morning.

According to the Smithsonian, the workers were conducting a routine training session with the animal, named Lola, when the binturong bit the staff member and did not readily let go. When a coworker tried to help, Lola bit them as well.

The binturong was removed and placed in a separate enclosure while the two staff members were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
