Officials gave an update after the shooting situation at Brown University on Saturday evening.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said that 2 people were killed and 8 others were injured, and there is no suspect in custody.

Among the eight injured, six were critically injured but stable, one person is in critical condition, and one person is stable, according to Rhode Island Hospital.

"We do not have a shooter in custody at this time," Mayor Smiley said. "There is a shelter-in-place in effect for the greater Brown University area."

Police officials said they are looking for a man dressed in black who was seen leaving the building at the Hope Street exit. They clarified that they do not have a photo of the suspect at this time.
