RHODE ISLAND, USA — A shooting in the engineering building at Brown University left at least two people dead and eight in critical condition Saturday, Providence's mayor said, as authorities searched for the gunman.
The deadly shooting happened on the second day of final exams.
The Ivy League school issued an active shooter alert Saturday afternoon and urged students and staff to take shelter.
"The unthinkable has happened," Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee said during a press conference.
Deputy chief of police Timothy O’Hara said the suspect is a man dressed in black last seen leaving the engineering building. Police officials said they're working to find video footage of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
No weapons have yet been recovered either.
