A woman is dead after striking a tree this morning with her car.

Officers responded to the area of Main Street around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident.

According to police, the car was headed north bound on Main Street, the car then left the roadway and struck a tree.

Police said the occupant was a 27-year-old woman. She was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.
