Third-generation Yuman Henry Valenzuela announced his candidacy for Yuma City Council on Friday at Gateway Park.
“Those of you who know me know I have lived a life of service,” Valenzuela said. “You know I don’t mind asking hard questions and getting to the bottom of things. I want to be your advocate and your voice.”
Valenzuela has accumulated 20 years of service in the Army National Guard as a combat engineer and recently accepted a promotion to the rank of master sergeant.
He also served the Yuma community for 20 years before retiring from the Yuma Police Department as a patrol lieutenant.
“Henry is a very tenacious individual,” said Ben DeCorse, Valenzuela’s campaign manager. “He’s very driven, he’s a man of grit and a man of integrity, who’s passionate about serving others.”
