Tonight's wind chills will be downright bitter. Temperatures in the single digits and winds up to 15mph will lead to sub-0 wind chills across the area.
Our northernmost counties will see the most brutal wind chills, nearing -15. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory in Macon County due to the bitter wind chills. We expect Randolph and Monroe counties to see similar conditions.
Wind chills this low can lead to frostbite in under 30 minutes. Be sure to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure if possible. If you are outdoors, ensure you are wearing a heavy jacket, gloves, and a scarf if possible. Knowing the signs of frostbite and hypothermia, it could save a life.
