BUENA PARK — Lane Brown left. Lane Brown right. Lane Brown up the middle.
And when he wasn’t running, it was Winters High School quarterback Lane Brown through the air.
The senior, who entered the game with 2,069 yards passing and 1,906 rushing, gashed Morse for 154 yards rushing and three touchdowns and threw a TD pass, leading Winters to a 28-7 win over the Tigers on Saturday at Buena Park High School to claim the 6-A state championship.
“He’s a lot bigger than I thought,” Morse coach Tracy McNair said of the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Brown. “He is not really fast, but he has good vision,m runs hard, and he’s tough.”
Morse’s Gael Diaz recovered an onside kick to open the game, but the Tigers (10-5) were forced to punt.
