To honor Mason, family members on Saturday left flowers along Haleakala Highway at the site of the fatal crash.
The collision happened just after midnight Wednesday morning.
County officials said Kubo took a short left turn and struck Mason’s pickup truck head-on, then fled the scene.
Pang died of his injuries a day later.
