Police: Man punches woman in face in elevator at Manhattan subway station

UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man is wanted in an attack at a Manhattan subway station on Friday morning.

Police say the suspect got into an elevator along with a 73-year-old woman at the 14th Street station and then punched the woman in the face several times before getting away.

The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black hat, glasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a dark gray jacket and gray pants. He was carrying a black backpack, black bag and a cane.

The motive for the attack is unknown.
