MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On December 13, 1866, Joseph Biedenharn was born. At age 22 he inherited his family’s confectionary business and renamed it Biedenharn candy company.
When a fountain drink called Coca-Cola became popular, he found a way to bottle it and take it to people in rural areas. Joe Biedenharn and his wife Anna moved to Monroe in 1913 and continued to grow the business.
He was also one of the first investors in delta airlines.
