The San Francisco Giants have remained fairly quiet without making any notable signings thus far this offseason. They need to bolster their roster in several areas after finishing 12 games behind the division leaders in the National League West. Improving the offensive production from the infield is one of the issues that their front office, headed by Buster Posey, has to resolve this winter.

According to MLB insider Katie Woo of The Athletic, the San Francisco Giants are lining up a trade deal with the St. Louis Cardinals for Brendan Donovan. The Seattle Mariners are also showing strong interest in the second baseman. However, Woo believes that the Giants are discussing a return package that includes two of their top prospects that the Cardinals wish to acquire.
