The Jewish community in Kent has reacted in horror to news that 12 people have been killed in an anti-semitic attack on Bondi Beach in Australia.
A man from the Jewish congregation in Margate, who asked not to be named for fear of retaliation, said: “This is a very worrying time for all of us.
He described the attacks as “horrific”, adding: “We are no longer safe.”
Twelve people have died – including one of the suspected gunmen – and 29 others were injured in the mass shooting yesterday evening.
Terrified residents reported hearing “up to 50” shots in the Campbell Parade area at around 6.45pm local time.
New South Wales Police are now at the scene in force, and the public have been told to avoid the area.
