Bengaluru’s iconic MG Road is set to be dug up for the first time in nearly four decades as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) prepares to replace pipeline.

The project is scheduled to start after Republic Day on January 26 with an aim to provide a stable water supply to both commercial entities and nearby military and police facilities.

The replacement of corroded water and sanitary pipelines will begin soon after the Republic Day celebrations, marking the first major overhaul of this vital infrastructure in nearly four decades.

According to BWSSB officials, the project is urgent, pointing to repeated leaks and contamination problems that have affected local businesses.
