Stripped of his armor of maize and blue, Sherrone Moore looked small. At his arraignment Friday, he was squeezed into a cinder-block-lined room that wouldn’t even fit all of the sneakers from his Jordan collection. Moore looked afraid, or maybe he was worried. Without the brim of his block “M” hat framing his face, Moore was exposed yet remained hard to read. He looked only like a criminal defendant. So when a Washtenaw County court magistrate asked him to identify himself, Moore did not start with the title that had made him rich, famous and seemingly set for life: Michigan Wolverines Coach.
