MUNCIE, IN — Authorities are investigating what has been called a "suspicious death" in southeastern Delaware County.

According to Jeff Stanley, chief deputy for the Delaware County Sheriff's' Department, a vehicle fire "in a rural area" was reported to emergency dispatchers about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Deputies who arrived at the scene found a vehicle engulfed in flames, Stanley said.

"During an investigation, a deceased individual was located," he said.

Stanley said the sheriff's department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office were conducting an investigation.
