A cold weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 4:51 p.m. valid from 9 p.m. until Monday 9 a.m. for Carbon and Monroe counties.

The weather service states, "Very cold wind chills as low as 15 degrees below expected for the Southern Poconos."

"The cold wind chills of 10 to 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken," explains the weather service. "Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves."
