An 86 year old man has been arrested after a fatal hit and run in Stoke on Trent.

A woman in her 70s sadly died from her injuries shortly after being taken to hospital following the collision at the junction of South Drive of Carmountside Crematorium and Leek Road, Milton, just after 8am on Friday (12 December).

The vehicle involved was described as a small blue/grey car and did not stop, leaving the scene and heading towards Abbey Hulton, according to police.

Tonight Staffordshire Police issued a major update as they revealed they had arrested an elderly man yesterday (Saturday, 13 December) on suspicion of causing death by careless and or inconsiderate driving, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report an accident yesterday.
