GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida finally has a new Chief Financial Officer. Governor Ron DeSantis appointed State Senator Blaise Ingoglia to the role during a news conference in Tampa on Wednesday.

Ingoglia replaces Jimmy Patronis, who resigned in March to run for Congress in the Florida Panhandle.

Ingoglia said his top priority as CFO will be cutting government spending and potentially eliminating property taxes for Florida homeowners.

“I think as CFO he’s going to be a really important voice for what a lot of Floridians are asking for and that’s relief from property taxes,” said Governor DeSantis.

“We’re going to work hand in glove to make sure we get rid of property taxes on homestead exemptions,” Ingoglia added.
