A 61-year-old man was killed and 13 others injured when lightning stuck an archery range in New Jersey on Wednesday.
The incident occurred 7.13 p.m. at the Black Knight Bowbenders range in Jackson Township, according to Jackson police chief Matthew Kurz.
The police chief said the other casualties, aged between seven and 61, had been taken to local hospitals and some had suffered burns. One individual lost consciousness during the incident.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said in a statement: "I have been briefed on a lightning strike tonight at an outdoor archery range in Jackson. At this time, we have at least one fatality and multiple injuries. All injured have been transported by first responders. Please pray for everyone involved in this tragic incident."
